Small airborne aerosols or particles that in size are less than 90 micrometers are together referred as TSP or total suspended particulate. There any many resources from which these particles constantly enter the environment. These particles are produced from both human and natural resources. Human resources include industrial processes, power generation, motor vehicles whereas natural factors that produce these particles include soil, pollen, salt particles from sea water.

Most of the inhaled suspended particulate stuff is either trapped in the higher areas of respiratory system or exhaled from the body. The remaining particles enter the lungs and windpipe, where some particles commonly known as inhalable suspended particulates, stick to protecting mucous and are then finally removed. Mechanisms like coughing also remove some of these particles. The undesirable fitness effect from these suspended particles more often than not in early stages remains unnoticed. These Particles can collect in the lungs after constant long-term disclosure leading to breathing troubles and other fitness problems. Some particulates themselves can be toxic if absorbed or inhaled, and can disturb the functioning of distant organs like the liver or kidneys. Gastrointestinal system can be badly affected by swallowed mucous in the body.
